The Raspberry Pi 5 was announced on September 28, 2023. Improvements in hardware and software reportedly make the Pi 5 more than twice as powerful as the Pi 4. It comes with an I/O-controller designed in-house, a power button, and an RTC chip, among other things. The RTC chip needs a battery, which can be purchased, but it saves a Pi user the cost of the chip. Unlike the Pi 4, it was released with either 4 or 8 GB of RAM. The 4 GB model costs US$60 and the 8 GB model costs US$80. An important thing to note is that it lacks a 3.5 mm audio/video jack. Users must use Bluetooth, HDMI or USB audio if they want to hear sound out of the Pi 5.
With a blazing-fast 2.4GHz quad-core 64-bit Arm Cortex-A76 CPU, it's over 2x faster than its predecessor, ensuring smooth and responsive performance for all your tasks. What's more, it's the first Raspberry Pi computer to feature silicon designed in-house at Raspberry Pi, guaranteeing top-notch quality and reliability.
Experience breathtaking visuals with dual 4Kp60 HDMI display output, opening up a world of possibilities for your projects. Stay connected with dual-band 802.11ac Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0, and enjoy high-speed data transfer with USB 3.0/2.0 ports.
For network enthusiasts, Raspberry Pi 5 offers Gigabit Ethernet with PoE+ support, simplifying your setup and reducing cable clutter. Capture and display images effortlessly with the 4-lane MIPI camera/display transceivers
