ADXL345 – Triple Axis Linear Accelerometer

ADXL345 Triple axis Linear Accelerometer:

Here are some key features and information about the ADXL345:

  1. Triple-Axis Accelerometer: The ADXL345 measures acceleration along three axes: X, Y, and Z. This makes it suitable for applications where you need to detect motion and changes in orientation.
  2. Communication Interfaces:
    • I2C: The ADXL345 supports I2C communication, allowing it to interface with microcontrollers and other devices using this protocol.
    • SPI: It also has an SPI (Serial Peripheral Interface) option for communication with devices that use SPI.
  3. Resolution and Range:
    • Resolution: The ADXL345 has selectable resolutions ranging from ±2g to ±16g, allowing you to adjust the sensitivity based on your application's requirements.
    • Selectable Range: It offers selectable measurement ranges for acceleration, providing flexibility to measure both small and large accelerations.
  4. Data Output Formats:
    • The sensor can output data in various formats, including 10-bit and 13-bit resolutions.
    • It supports both 4-wire SPI and I2C digital interfaces.
  5. Data Rate Settings:
    • The ADXL345 allows you to set the data output rate, which determines how frequently the accelerometer provides new data. Common data rates range from 0.1 Hz to 3200 Hz.
  6. Low Power Modes:
    • The accelerometer includes low power modes to conserve energy when not actively sensing motion.
  7. Applications:
    • The ADXL345 is used in a variety of applications, such as tilt sensing, robotics, motion detection, and vibration monitoring.
    • It is commonly integrated into wearable devices, game controllers, and other consumer electronics.
  8. Libraries and Example Code:
    • Many microcontroller platforms, such as Arduino, have libraries and example codes available for interfacing with the ADXL345. These resources simplify the process of integrating the accelerometer into your projects.

    Original Product

ADXL345 is a Breakout board for the Analog Device's ADXL345 3-axis accelerometer. The module is populated with MOSFET-based Voltage level conversion circuitry to enable you to interface with different types of microcontrollers. Apart from the above all, necessary components like decoupling capacitors, filter capacitors, pull up resistors, and LED is also populated on board.

It is ideal for motion and acceleration sensing applications. It is a low-power, 3-axis MEMS accelerometer modules with both I2C and SPI interfaces. The ADXL345 features 4 sensitivity ranges from +/- 2G to +/- 16G. And it supports output data rates ranging from 10Hz to 3200Hz such as the Arduino.
